A Long Island Rail Road derailment offered the latest peek into the train wreck of a relationship between Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo.
The governor, joined by FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro and Metropolitan Transportation Authority head Tom Prendergast, arrived at the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn to answer questions about the Wednesday morning wreck.
Not invited or sighted was de Blasio, who had ripped then-Mayor Bloomberg three years ago for failing to appear at the scene of a fatal train derailment.
The mayor was instead about one mile away, visiting the Brooklyn Museum to view a new NYPD photo exhibit, as Cuomo addressed the crash that injured more than 100 riders.

“The LIRR obviously is the purview of the governor,” de Blasio told reporters. “But more importantly, thank God, there are minor, very minor injuries."
De Blasio was singing a different tune in December 2013 after Bloomberg’s no-show at a Metro-North crash in the Bronx.
“I’ll let the current mayor speak for himself about his choice,” said de Blasio. “For me it would be, generally speaking, important to be there.”

De Blasio offered an explanation for his decision to steer clear of the accident site in the borough that he called home before moving to Gracie Mansion.
“We look at each situation specifically and this is the different kind of situation than that horrible tragedy we were talking about years ago,” de Blasio said when asked about his derogatory assessment of Bloomberg.Send a Letter to the Editor
