They got it Donkey Wrong.
The official Twitter account of the Russian Ministry of Defense posted "irrefutable evidence" that America is in cahoots with terrorists, featuring images they claimed to be taken from combat drones flying over Syria.
It was truly game, set and match with a heavy emphasis on "game," since one of the pictures was from the mobile phone title "AC-130 Gunship Simulator: Special Ops Squadron," CBS News reports.
"The Ministry of Defense shows irrefutable evidence that #US are actually covering ISIS combat units to recover their combat capabilities, redeploy, and use them to promote American interests in Middle East," the account stated Tuesday morning, along with the image from the 2015 video game.
On the bright side, the other pictures the Ministry of Defense shared were from reality except they took place in 2016 and they featured the Iraqi Air Force pounding an ISIS convey around Falluja.
According to The Guardian, a team of Russian online investigators known as the Conflict Intelligence Team made the embarrassing discovery, prompting the social media team to delete the images soon thereafter.
Presumably the Russians were pretty red in the face.
