Hiring the former MTV exec follows Shout! Factory launching a filmed entertainment, production and distribution arm to develop original content.
Shout! Studios has named former MTV exec Brent Haynes to head up original TV development.
The hire, announced Wednesday, follows Shout! Factory recently launching Shout! Studios as a multi-platform filmed entertainment distribution and production arm. Haynes, in the newly-created role, will oversee development of content for TV and digital platforms, and continue growing Shout’s scripted series and production businesses.
"I look forward to building a creative friendly home where writers, producers and visionary content makers have the freedom to do their best work," Haynes said in a statement. The announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s co-founder and president, Garson Foos, to whom Haynes reports.
Haynes most recently served as president and executive producer of Picture Arcade, his development and production shingle. Before that, he was senior vp of comedy and animation at MTV in New York City.
Haynes was also vp of programming at Canada's The Comedy Network and Space channels, shepherding development, production, acquisitions and scheduling.
