When the news was released that there is a third royal baby on the way, it was revealed that Kate Middleton is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum – something she suffered from with her previous two pregnancies.

The Duchess of Cambridge was so ill that she had to miss eldest son Prince George’s first day of school.

After the news broke that Kate was pregnant again, it was unclear how far along she was – especially as her pregnancy with Princess Charlotte had to be announced early due to her battle with severe morning sickness.

But Prince William may have let slip that his wife has reached the 12-week mark.

After receiving congratulations from an audience member at the National Mental Health and Policing conference in Oxford, the future king said: "Thank you, it’s very good news. There’s not much sleep going on at the moment."

He then added: "It was a bit anxious to start with," but that they can "start celebrating this week".

Pregnancies are normally announced after the 12-week mark, as it is the end of the first trimester.

If this is the case with Will and Kate, they will welcome their third royal baby in March next year.

Kensington Palace announced the Princess’ baby news in a statement earlier this month.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their child," it read.

"The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.

"As with their previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children's Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace."
