Captain America star Chris Evans takes on ex KKK leader David Duke after Twitter rant on white supremacy

CAPTAIN America actor Chris Evans has refused to back down during a Twitter feud with David Duke.

The argument began when Chris tweeted his outrage at Jeff Sessions being confirmed as Attorney General, using David Duke to make his point.

"If David Duke ….DAVID!…DUKE!… thinks you’re right, then you are unequivocally wrong. The confirmation of @jeffsessions is beyond words," the 35-year-old tweeted last Wednesday.

David, a former Ku Klux Klan leader, was quick to respond to the Avengers star and a Twitter battle ensued.

"Typical dumb actor – if everything I say is wrong, then when I say I oppose these Zionists wars, you must be for them, Captain America!?" David, well known for his bigoted views, replied.

But Chris came back with his own rebuttal: a collection of racist quotes spouted by David, the one-term Republican Louisiana State Representative who openly denies the Holocaust.

The collection of speech exerts and comments included shocking statements about ethnic cleansing.

Take a look at all the best bits from the 2017 BAFTAs.

After Duke chose not to respond, Evans tweeted: "We can't let hatred be the loudest voice."

However, the row wasn't over as on Sunday – four days after Evans' last tweet – the 67-year-old ex-politician posted four images of the handsome actor standing beside various women of colour.

The images included a photograph of Chris with his ex Jenny Slate, a Jewish comedian and actor, alongside the caption: "Why does Chris Evans, who plays the Jewish inspired super hero, Captain America, hate the women of his people so much? #WhiteGenocide."

Dukes' comment draws on the fact that the successful Captain America franchise was devised by Jewish creators, Joe Siegel and Jack Kirkby.

Refusing to let Duke have the last word though, Evans responded yesterday with a message of hope and advice to the KKK member.

"I don’t hate them. That’s YOUR method. I love. Try it. It’s stronger than hate. It unites us. I promise it’s in you under the anger and fear."

So far, Duke has not replied to the intelligent response but has continued to use his Twitter feed as a mouthpiece for his views on white supremacy.
