The Hollywood icons are set to be honoured in a joint funeral planned by the family, with Carrie’s brother and Debbie’s son, Todd Fisher, confirming the news.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Todd said it would be the most “appropriate” thing to do, given how close the mother and daughter were.

“It’s what we want to do, but we’re still working on the mechanics,” he explained.

“We like the idea, if it’s at all possible. I think it’s appropriate.”

Todd then look to social media to share a sketch of the two, and declared he would “miss them both so much”.

His sketch showed Carrie dressed as the iconic Princess Leia and Debbie as Kathy Selden from Singin’ In The Rain, with the quote “what a glorious feeling, I’m happy again” written above.

He captioned the touching drawing: “This is a beautiful love story to witness in my 58 years. I miss them both so much. Love is everlasting.”

After Carrie’s death, Debbie reached out to fans on Facebook and said: “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter.

“I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop.”

When she passed away from a severe stroke just one day later, Todd simply said: “She went to be with Carrie.”

He added to E! News: “In fact, those were the last words that she spoke this morning. More specifically, she said that she really, she was under a lot of stress.”
